Horse Camp

This year we are doing our camps a little differently, advanced camp is the only full day camp option.  Advanced camp dates will be set by the first students to sign up for each week.

Horsebound instructors agree: the summer camps we attended as kids are some of our very fondest memories. We have albums full of photos of the horses we rode, and some of us still talk to the "kids" from our camps! We would love to share this joy with you and your children, so we offer an array of different camps for riders of all levels.

Horsemanship Camp
This is our signature camp, and provides students with a solid foundation for kicking off their riding adventure (or greatly enhancing their skills) in one, intensive week. After grooming and tacking up the horses, we split into groups and play games as well as engage in exercises created to take each child's riding to the next level. After lunch in the shade, we turn our focus to horsemanship; learning things like how to give a horse a bath, deworm, lunge, polo wrap, clean tack, and - occassionally - natural horsemanship. We talk about breeds, color, and feed. If the heat gets too intense, we may visit the local pool for a refreshing swim, but mostly, this camp is all about the horses. Suitable for beginner and intermediate riders.

Advanced Camp
We dedicate each morning to a different discipline such as barrels, dressage, crossrails, and a faux fox hunt. One of the days is spent on trail, with another day at the beach with the horses. Must be a student or have a trial lesson to participate (to evaluate skill level).

Please call us at (760) 877-4768 or email us at horseboundsandiego@gmail.com for complete information on our horse camp offerings.
